The June 5th, 2018, LIHAC meeting was called to order at 6:45 pm., by President Tim Lange. 51 members answered roll call
The secretary’s minutes for the May meeting were read and approved. The treasurer reported there were $394.79, in checks written in May. The checking account now has $3410.06, and the savings account balance is $1,053.25, and a CD matured with $537.62.
Pam Luenz reported that the are now 97 LIHAC member families as of June 5, 2018.
There were 13 birthdays and 3 anniversaries for the month of June.
Annette Williams reported that she sent get well cards to Barry Wheeler, Gene and Bev Gangwer and a sympathy card to Brice Crowel.
The MCL drawing went to Gene McKinley, the Dog ’n Suds to Jean Gosma and the recruiting of a new member to Joe Newlin.
Boni Goss reported on the May Ladies Luncheon at the American Legion. There were 26 ladies present. Harold Williams reported there were 19 men at the Men’s Breakfast on Ma7 19th. The next Ladies Luncheon will be Thursday, June 14th., at 11:30 am. at “Trish’s Red Bird Cafe” in Dayton and is hosted by LeMoyne Senesac. The Men’s Breakfast will be Friday, June15th., at the Downtowner at 8:30 am.
There were several tours and activities in May:
May5 – Jerry Barnett headed up a “Vettes for Vets” car show. There were 147 Corvettes and the donation for the Indiana Veteran’s Home was very good.
May 9 – Harold and Jo Williams was in charge of the annual Beef House tour, which Harold had Ed Wagoner be the lead car. Then a few miles down the road Tom Cobb was the leader for a while, then Joe Goss was the lead car. Harold mentioned he’d never been on a tour where the lead car turned in to 3 different vehicles. Bill Layton had trouble with his Model A on the tour. It was mentioned it looked like “Old Faithful” coming alive!!
May 18 – A tour of the Purdue Performance Center was hosted by Mike and Pam Luenz with a Purdue guide. There were 15 people on the tour and it was very informative. Great tour!
May 20 – Bingo and carry in lunch at the Buck Creek Community Center with 35 LIHAC’er. Damon and Martha Hayes had reserved the building and Martha had some great Bingo prizes.
May 30 – was the mystery Breakfast Tour led by Tom and Linda Cobb. They toured with 27 hungry people to the “Breakfast Company” restaurant in Crawfordsville. Everything and anything you could think of for breakfast was on the menu.
Up coming events for June are:
June 9 – There will be a cookout at Jeff and Linda Findlay’s home. Hot dogs, steamed buns and the club will also provide the condiments, chips and water. Bring your own lawn chair, a covered dish to share and your own table service and serving utensils.
June 16 – The annual Hildebrand car show at the Soldiers Home sponsored by Bobby Burkhalter is 11 – 2pm. There will be food for lunch for a small donation.
June 23 – A car show from 10-2 pm., at St. Anthony’s Healthcare Center (by the old St. E. Hospital).
June 30 – Joh Steiner is hosting a Poker Run at 5:00 pm., beginning at the Innovations Church on Concord Rd, just south of Walmart,
Bill Layton is caring for the Dammit Doll and Marlene Peterson is still guarding the Golden Spike.
There was a Thank You note read from Ascent 121, the Human Trafficking Awareness program for the clubs donation last month.
Bob Walton showed a finished puzzle picture of his green Mustang. His daughter had taken a picture and then sent the photo in to have it reproduced into a puzzle. It was then mod lodged (glued) together and then Bob had it framed to hang on his wall. (Bob likes to put puzzles together while in Florida).
Harold Doremire announced the 1st. Annual Engine and Tractor how to be held at the Shadeland Fire Station on June 30th and July 1st. Featured tractor this year is a John Deere and the featured engine is a Cushman.
Also, on June 16th. and 17th., Don Gosma in involved with a tractor show.
Joe Newlin announced he could use some help with his Mini and Micro Car Show July 27th. through July 29th.
The next meeting will be July 3rd.
Harold Doremire made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Joe Newlin seconded.
